Could all those joining us for the Mayor’s visit and official christening of the new coaching launch, please be down by 12:45 for a 13:00 photo opportunity and speeches. I would encourage everyone to be at the club no later than 13:30 ready to go and all crews should be on the water at 14:00. The sailors at BASC have a window between races from 14:15 – 14:30 and I should like us all to be past the sailing club before their next race starts. We shall take two safety launches with us driven by Jon Townley and Jon B-B, one taking the head of the fleet and the other following at the rear.

For crews and boats, this is the latest allocation that I am aware of:

Junior Double Sculls – Ben and Jacob + Thomas and Juliet
Junior Coxed Quad Scull – Erin, Sam, Felix, Angus + Holly (cox)
Adult’s Quad scull – Mike, Danny, Jason and Simon
Single Sculls – Vivky + Phil

Do let me know if I have missed anyone.

For the trip, do make sure you have a selection of drinks and snacks in a waterproof container that can be taken with you plus sun hats and sun cream as appropriate. If this morning forecast is to be believed, I think we should expect the odd shower over the course of the afternoon.

We shall have a couple of rests along the way but all being well as we follow the ebb tide downstream I expect us to be in Oulton Broad at the Colman’s Dyke pontoon by Lowestoft Rowing Club at around 16:30 where Robin will be waiting to greet us along with members of Lowestoft RC, at least four of whom I expect to be rowing back to Beccles with the adults. We will in need of some adult assistance at the Oulton Broad end with loading the junior boats onto the trailer for Robin to tow back so if parents could lend a hand that will be most helpful.

On the return trip, we shall be in need of another adult volunteer to drive one of the launches back home as Jon B-B will be staying in Oulton Broad. Any volunteers? Again all being well, I expect the adults to be back at Beccles RC and off the water by 19:00 at the latest.

I trust everyone has made good progress with their fund raising and that the weather is kind to us and that everyone enjoys the afternoon on the river.

Finally – I do not expect there to be any junior rowing on Sunday following Saturday’s long outing.

    NO JUNIOR ROWING SUNDAY.

Many thanks to both scullers and intrepid supporters alike for their turnout at the sponsored row last Saturday.

Despite setting off in perfect conditions, it was a pretty horrid afternoon of persistent rain but that didn’t seem to dampen the high spirits and fun on the river. Many thanks also to our friends at Lowestoft RC for not only providing the use of their facilities but also four rowing back our coxless quad scull.

Hopefully everyone has dried out and has had time to start collecting their sponsorship money. Could everyone please endeavour to have all cash collected and gift aid sponsorship forms completed before bringing them down to the club by this Sunday please.

Sponsor forms can be printed-off from http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/appendix_b2.pdf

    Thanks.
