In spite of the recent weather there has plenty of activity at the club on Sunday mornings.
Sunday the 6th January saw a number of new faces at the club to start training for this year’s Beccles v Bungay boat race which is due to take place on the 31st March. Even though it is early days it looks as if it could be as competitive as last year’s race in which the lead changed several times. The club hopes to hold a few other races between club members before the main Beccles v Bungay race which will be rowed in coxed fours. This will be followed by a barbecue at the club which will include the opportunity to watch “the other boat race”.
Club members have already been training for the next event that will see crews from Beccles Rowing Club competing. The Norwich Head on Saturday March 2nd will be raced over 5000 or 2000 metres depending upon status. Will and Mark has quite a list of possible entries many of which will include members who will be competing for the first time. It will be great to see a large Beccles Rowing Club contingent, hopefully with a noisy group of supporters at this local event that attracts entries from all over the Eastern region.
